Colocation is placing your server equipment in a facility (or datacenter) that is specifically designed for the storage of computer hardware for hosting purposes. Colocation can be broken down into two categories, shared colocation and dedicated colocation. Shared colocation provides a cost-effective solution to customers who only need to colocate a few pieces of equipment and your colocation space is shared with other customers. Dedicated colocation is needed when tens and hundreds of servers are needed in a secure hosting environment. Dedicated colocation can consist of ½ to multiple secure cabinets, private cage spaces, dedicated server rooms, and private data centers.
